The latest project signed by ARCHITECTS OFFICE unveils twelve houses with unique qualities amidst the park of the Fundação Oscar Americano in São Paulo, an architectural and environmental heritage. A contemporary proposal of residences in harmony with the traditions of modernism to conceive the concept that combines quality of life and connection with the Brazilian nature.

The project under development is situated on the land adjacent to the Fundação Oscar Americano, now a museum with an important collection. Enveloped by a vast forest of the park, known for the main species of Brazilian flora still preserved, the construction integrates poetically as if it had always been there. From the contextual analysis, a project strategy was outlined focusing on leveraging the potential of the area, its historical and environmental relevance with unique design for each residential unit. And thus exalting contemporary and sustainable architecture.

The concept starts from the local reading, delving into the existing modernist architecture designed by Oswaldo Arthur Bratke in 1950, and its relationship with nature, listing synthesis elements of this dialogue. Thus, the opaque, the transparent, and the translucent are identified and articulated by materials such as concrete, glass, and the use of cobogós, in a contemporary reinterpretation, stimulating the senses.

In parallel, the approach makes historical references through studies of architectural solutions from Japanese modernism, in a transversal interlocution between universal design principles. And it evokes the know-how of global expectations for the contemporary house, celebrating the qualities of proportion, harmony, and human scale for sound, tactile, visual, and ergonomic comfort. The implementation seeks to position the houses in different arrangements on the triangular terrain, to enable privacy with strategic views of the natural surroundings and preserve the plant species of the surroundings. In each unit, a mapping of translucency, opacity, and transparency is carried out so that each house is unique. Individually, the residences distinguish themselves according to their position, bringing cobogós between opaque closures, or alternating with transparency, promoting the best use and application of materials in relation to the orientation of natural lighting and ventilation. Thus, the philosophy of art and technique is present in making possible a project that rationalizes solutions, while articulating exclusivity, where each dwelling has its incomparable expression. A reading of uniqueness within an efficient strategy of replicability.

The design process manifests extensive research on the landscape and memory of the Fundação Oscar Americano to capture its essence. The architecture then establishes the experience of belonging, but here in a timeless conception, by creating a particular correlation between modernism and contemporaneity, tradition and innovation.
